Minerals, Gems and Butterflies @ the Natural History Museum

Every first Tuesday of the month is free at the Natural History Museum. We decided to go after hearing about Pavilion of Wings, a live butterfly exhibit that runs until September 6th. Romance was definitely in the air – we saw butterflies 69′ing on a leaf and another pair doing it in midair! In front of children!

Even more impressive was the amazing Gem and Crystal Room. My favorite museum exhibit ever!

They also play b-movies there and have tons of taxidermy squirrels if you’re into that sort of thing. The Butterflies will be taken over by Spiders in September for the Spider Pavilion. The Science Center is right next door if you want to check out cool 3-d movies about underwater life.
