A long time gamer friend of ours one day began telling us a tale of a mysterious pair of dirty pantaloons.
While playing Dragon Age: Origins on her PS3 she stumbled upon a mysterious pair of dirty pantaloons or rather a helpful four legged friend stumbled upon them. In Ferelden there is a little dog and he will dig for you a wondrous treasure this treasure can be anything but this particular time he dug up a pair of these dirty pantaloons. Now she was going to throw these away as to not waste any space in her inventory on soiled personals but she went on to tell us how she just kind of forgot about them and moved forward on her quest.
She then explained how in the game you the player must gain approval points from your companions or from guards within the city this will help the story unfold and change the dynamics of your relationships in the game. To gain points a player must give gifts from his or her inventory. She went on to tell us how she met up with a female character in the game and sought out approval points from her by offering her a silver bracelet. Now one would think that a gift like this would bring lots of approval especially from a total stranger however the npc did not give one crap about this bracelet. After being frustrated for awhile our friend noticed she was still carrying around those dirty pantaloons and said what the hell and gifted them to the young female npc and low and behold her approval ratings went up +5. My friend immediately thought this was weird and funny and notified us right away. We had one question…WHY?
Well that’s what our friend, who works at a certain 3D gaming company, has promised us. In 3 weeks we’ll be putting their version, which should be the version to end all versions, to the test. I’ll be waiting very patiently… not!
With the impending launch of StarCraft II, all is not well in the land of the Zergling Rush. Blizzard, the company who created StarCraft (as well as Warcraft and Diablo), has demanded that revenue from televised professional tournaments be shared with them. Meanwhile, accusations of illegal gambling and match-fixing has scandalized the country’s professional Star Craft scene. Oh, you didn’t know that an alternate universe existed in which StarCraft is a pro sport and women give birth to healthy ‘Zerglings’?
Until the rest of the world catches up, South Korea is the only country where playing a 15 year-old pc game can turn your gamer tag into a household name.
