korean culture generally isn’t very big on gay. i know this because i’m korean and i’m gay. my mom… not too happy about it. i think things will change eventually. i mean 10 years ago, a girl would get slapped by random harabujees (grandpas) for wearing a midriff.
winnie cooper/danica mckeller has been awarded ‘honorary asian’ at the disgrasian blog for her eXtreme math skills and good looks. congratulations winnie! you’re one of us now.
caprica has been keeping me on the edge of my seat since its premiere. in the first episode, we travel into the future past where humans are still being harbored on the planet caprica. we get to see the birth of the first cylons in the form of dead, teenaged girls. if only we could all rez into cybergothic after-worlds as geeky 16 year-old girls when we die. the series has a similar feel to battlestar galactica but with more under-aged sacrifice raves. the dramatic, suspenseful mood will definitely be familiar to bg fans. without the barren, battle-scarred terrain and ships, caprica’s sleek city/cyber landscapes make you forget that it takes place before battlestar galactica (even though taurons and gamers are randomly dressed like dick tracy). it might get a little cheesy at times but im not the kind of fan to be turned off by that. after all, more than a few of my favorite books are by r.l. stine. if you’re interested, there’s a crazy caprica blog with sneak peeks, deleted scenes and more. geez, already?! also, i read an interesting interview with alessandri torresani, who plays the main character. apparently, she is looking forward to being your new sexy idol, all you lucky fanboys out there.
cyberpaper: text messages of the future will be made of giant pieces of paper that you can just throw away instead of storing electronically. how convenient?
